Why are so many gay men so obsessed with masculinity? And what influence does this have on those who do not comply with this ideal?

In the short documentary film Acting Straight, co-filmmaker Tofik Dibi and I take a close look at gay men's experiences of trying to fit into these masculine ideals. Where one consciously distances himself from the strict expectations, the other seems to suffer from the obsession. Most importantly, Acting Straight exposes an uncomfortable truth: Although 'Pride' may be their motto, it's the fear of not being masculine enough that has many gays in its grip.
