GAME OF PHONES

THE STORY.

The smartphone seems to turn our lives into one big game. The game element penetrates many areas: in love, at work, in healthcare and in the police. What are the consequences of this trend? And what is the game that is simultaneously played with us behind the scenes – by the companies that come up with these apps?

With the arrival of the smartphone, the concept of gamification was also introduced: the phenomenon in which elements from the gaming world are applied outside of games. The playing person likes to be challenged to surpass themselves, to achieve goals, to compete – with others, but also with themselves. A higher rating, more likes, a next level. The smartphone is the ideal instrument for this and the smartphone and gamification form a particularly good marriage. After all, the smartphone is always there for you. In the kaleidoscopic documentary Game of Phones, this subject is examined from a myriad of angles.
