THE STORY.

Although globalization has seemingly brought the world closer together and cultures have become increasingly intertwined, fundamental differences in values ​​and beliefs remain. Western and non-Western perspectives can sometimes be at odds with each other and lead to friction — both in major social issues and in everyday situations. For example, where one worldview emphasizes individual freedom, the other focuses on collective responsibility.

In Out Of The West, we meet a variety of people from non-Western societies who openly and honestly express their thoughts about Westerners and the West. Each of them has formed an image of it without ever having been there themselves. From hero status and promised land to big bad bogeyman, a colourful palette of flavours about Westerners is discussed that hold up an unprecedented and confrontational mirror to us.
